Foreign nationals can obtain a Residence Permit for up to 2 years by showing that they have resided in real estates that they own or rent in order to stay in Turkey for more than 90 days and avoid visa costs without being subject to visa restrictions.
The first application for a residence permit is made through the online system. This application is a preliminary application and is made to determine an appointment date. On the appointment date, applications can also be made to the Directorates of Migration Management in person or through a proxy appointed with a valid power of attorney. Basically, the following documents are required:
Title deed or lease agreement
- If the spouse or children will also receive a residence permit, Apostille annotated marriage certificates and birth certificates and their notarized translations made in Turkey
- Passport and 4 biometric photos for each applicant will be needed
- Health insurance (varies by age and country of applicants)
The residence permit is sent to the address of the applicant via PTT Cargo within 90 days at the latest following the application and the delivery of the documents.
