Çukurova International Airport (Çukurova, COV), Turkey's 58th airport, has opened in the southern province of Mersin. With an annual capacity of 9 million passengers, the modern airport is designed as an important transportation hub that will contribute to the development of tourism and trade in the region.
Located between the major cities of Adana and Mersin, Çukurova Airport is convenient for leisure and business travelers. Mersin already ranks third in Turkey in terms of popularity among foreign real estate buyers. The new airport is expected to increase the attractiveness of the region.
One of the key advantages of Çukurova Airport is its infrastructure, which meets international standards. The 3,500-meter-long runway, built to CAT-II standards, has the capacity to handle all types of aircraft, including wide-body models. For convenient and easy transportation, a new highway has been built connecting the airport to the cities of Mersin and Adana. A high-speed train is also planned to reach the airport in just 23 minutes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that Çukurova Airport will become the "air gateway" of the region, contributing to the development of the economy, trade and tourism and the creation of new jobs.
With a construction cost of €244.5 million, the airport is ready to welcome visitors from around the world, offering easy access to the beauty and opportunities of the Mersin region.
