Historical districts of Alanya

Alanya Castle: The main attraction of the city is a medieval fortress, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the fortress was built in the XIII century, and its history goes back to the Roman, Byzantine periods. The fortress is located near the harbor in the center of Alanya, towering over the Mediterranean Sea. The length of the fortress walls is about 6.5 kilometers. To get into it from the sea, you will need to buy a ticket, but other parts are open for free admission to everyone.

Red Tower (Kyzyl-Kule): This historical building is considered the symbol of Alanya and is one of the greatest examples of medieval military architecture. The height of the tower is 33 meters, and the name comes from the red brick used in the construction. The first floor is used as a museum.

Shipyard of Alanya (Tersane): another unique building built during the reign of the Seljuks in 1227. The building was built of stones and bricks, and all five arched docks face the sea. Inside the shipyard there is a small museum where you can see the history of shipbuilding and maritime navigation during the Seljuk period. The area of ​​the shipyard is 57 meters and 40 meters deep. You can get to the shipyard by walking along a narrow path south of the Red Tower.

Damlatas Cave: A natural attraction in the center of Alanya, which can be accessed from the entrance on Damlatas Beach. The cave is widely known for its therapeutic ability to cure asthma due to the special air inside.

Cleopatra Beach: Another of the main symbols of Alanya is the famous Cleopatra Beach, which stretches for 2 km in the center of the historical peninsula. It is the most popular destination among tourists due to its golden sand, crystal clear waters and attractive coastline. It can be reached on foot from the city center. The name of the beach is named after the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. According to legend, she received these lands as a gift from the Roman commander Mark Antony and she personally bathed and sunbathed on this beach. Millions of tourists come here every year, contributing to the development of tourism in the region. Cleopatra Beach is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.

Damlatas Beach: Another popular beach located next to the Damlatas Cave, which is famous for swimming along the rocky shore with caves. Right on the beach there are plenty of activities including volleyball, basketball, tennis courts and a large playground with fitness equipment. There are also many restaurants and popular cafes such as Starbucks, just a few steps from the beach.
